Curriculum and Instruction, Social Sciences, has prepared the attached "Student Mock Presidential Election 2008 Instructional Kit" to help teachers prepare their students for participation in the M-DCPS Student Mock Presidential Election 2008.


The atttached "Election Kit" has been prepared to assist teachers in giving their students the experience of voting in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Student Mock Presidential Election 2008.  Curriculum and Instruction, Social Sciences, encourages all teachers to afford their students the opportunity to practice democracy by participating in the student mock election.

Included in the election kit are the following:

  • Student Mock Election Directions
  • Student Mock Election Voter Registration Application for Elementary Students
  • Student Mock Election Voter Registration Application for Secondary (Middle and Senior High) Students
  • Student Mock Election Voter Registration Cards
  • Master List of Student Voters Form
  • Voting Today Precinct Poster
  • Make Your Opinion Known- Student Mock Election Advertisement
  • "I Voted Today" Cards
  • Election-Related Instructional Activities School Reporting Form
  • The election activities previously forwarded to schools by Curriculum and Instrustion, Social Sciences, are also attached.

Students may vote electronically by accessing the appropriate links (see attachments) for their grade level.  The links will be available from October 27-31, 2008 and results of the Mock Election will be posted on or about Thursday, November 6, 2008. 

Schools are encouragaed to fill out the Election-Related Instructional Activities School Reporting Form and fax it to Social Sciences at 305 995-1492, if election-related activities are planned for the entire school. Please see the last page of the attachments for this form.
