Curriculum & Instruction, Social Sciences, would like to inform teachers about an opportunity for middle and senior high school students to participate in the 2009 C-SPAN StudentCam Video Documentary competition. The deadline is January 20, 2009.


  • Curriculum and Instruction, Social Sciences, would like to announce the opportunity for middle and senior high school students to participate in the 2009 C-SPAN  StudentCam Video Documentary competition.
  • The 2009 C-SPAN StudentCam competition encourages students to think seriously about issues that affect our communities and our nation.
  • The competition requires students or teams of students(up to three students in a team) to produce an original, short (between 5-8 minutes) video documentary that explores an issue of national significance that they believe is in need of urgent attention for the new president of the United States.
  • The theme for the 2009 C-SPAN StudentCam competition is, "A message to the new President: What is the most urgent issue for the new president to address after taking office, and why?
  • The documentary should include more than one point of view, and students MUST use C-SPAN programming to enhance their documentaries.
  • Interested teachers should access the C-SPAN website for more details and competition rules. To access C-SPAN:

    • Click on "StudentCam" for more details and rules of the competition.
  • In addition, teachers may also access the C-SPAN Classroom for free resources for the civics/government classroom. To access C-SPAN Classroom:
